Plant Engineer
Required for a world-scale manufacturing facility using the latest technology for energy conservation and environmental protection. Located in Canada 's vast western agricultural region, the facility covers 160 acres. This operation runs on a 24 hours a day , 7 days a week basis.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager-Engineering,the Plant Engineer is a senior engineering position responsible for providing engineering co-ordination for plant maintenance and project work to improve plant reliability and reduce production costs.
Major Responsibilities
Works under the general direction of the Manager ,Engineering to provide engineering services in support of the engineering and maintenance group.This position is responsible for the planning , organizing and execution of work with respect to the coordination of Capital Projects from the point of AFE preparation to installation.Within these capital projects , the Plant Engineer will ensure that all plant replacements , modications and additions are performed in strict conformity with original design specifications and applicable code requirements.
The Plant Engineer ,in the execution of major capital projects , will work closely with vendors, consultants and contacts both inside and outside the company to maintain effective project execution. Provide technical support for the maintenance function through activities such as equipment design and specification , equipment trouble shooting, and equipment inspection as well as supervision back up during turnarounds.
Within the area of equipment inspection , the Plant Engineer will manage the Senior Quality Control Engineer and Inspector to administer the Plant Site Quality Control Manual. He will maintain a liason with Alberta Boiler and Safety Branch (ABSA) to keep them up to date with required reporting. Effectively utilizes the talents of the staff to ensure competent technical services within the plant engineering group.
Performs performance evaluations and develops performance expectations for his/her staff and is also responsible for other supervisory duties such as vacation scheduling ,absenteeism and general work habits. The Plant Engineer is also responsible for preparing regular reports covering the activities of the Engineering Group. Prepares and review various project status and cost reports and provides adequate control for the storage and retrieval of engineering data and information.Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.
Actively supports and participates in all Environment ,Health and Safety intiatives and activities. Promotes EHS programs and ensures compliance within the Admin.Services Department.Supports and is an active participant in the initiatives of Continuous Improvement through teamwork, and the application of Quality Planning and Improvement Principles to the routine performance of duties.
Supervisory Relationships
This position directly supervises 5 technical professionals.
Position Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a graduate engineer with at least 7-10 years of maintenance and/or project engineering experience in an industrial plant
