Advance Plastic Product Development Engineer Grand Rapids - Michigan

1.Responsible for developing new products. This includes finding or initiating new ideas, working with CAD and CAE to develop and analyze the ideas.
2.Self-starter and self-directed to accomplish tasks with little or no management.
3. Will be required to interface with advanced engineering groups at the customer during customer related advanced development projects. Good communication and customer skills are required.
4.Responsible for leading a team.
5.Responsible for completing paper work to satisfy the requirements associated with Advanced Product Development project phase exits. This requires discipline and organizational skills.
6.Responsible for training all new technical personnel with regards to new products developed and our preferred design solutions.
7. You will be viewed as one of the company experts in the areas you are working. As such, you will be expected to mentor Product Engineers that are on the customer teams as well as partake in brainstorming meetings and peer reviews. It will be your job to make sure that they are moving in the right direction.
8.Interest in or experience investigating market viability with customers and potential customers.
9.Areas of experience preferred:
a.Impact Energy Management
b. Composites (DLFT, GMT, Long fiber Injection molding...)
c.Injection molding
d.Underbody panels
e.DOE and ideally DOE Pro
f.Thermoforming
g.GD&T and Stack-up analysis
h. BIW
i.Basic knowledge of the manufacturing processes listed above and how to develop cost effective designs using them
10.Monthly travel to South East, MI is anticipated.
11.International travel is likely.
12.Primary position of job is in Grand Haven, Michigan.
